Most Common Electrical Problems in Tiny Homes

Tiny homes are one of the biggest crazes in the last couple of years. These ingenious living spaces may not have that much room, but their designs and layouts are made so that everything fits in perfectly without having to sacrifice many things. Sure, you won’t have a giant bathtub, but that is not their intended purpose.

While we can talk about different tiny home designs for hours, that is not the topic of…

Great Design Ideas for Tiny Yards

Buying a home is very exciting yet it requires some compromises. Normally, your budget will determine the size and the type of home you’ll be able to afford. This might mean that you will have to choose a home with only one garage, or a home with a small backyard instead of a large one.

However, keep in mind that bigger isn't always better. Compared to spacious outdoor places, small yards can mean less cleaning but…

"Powering Your Tiny House With SOLAR!" Michael Chance - 2017 Tiny House Summit Community Presentation - Michael Chance

Your Name and Title: Michael Chance, founder of Chance Marketing Group & TinySolarHouse.com

Organization Name: Chance Marketing Group

Co-Presenter Name(s): N/A

Area of the World from Which You Will Present: California

Language in Which You Will Present: English

Target Audience(s): Current & Future Tiny House Dwellers

Short Session Description (one line): The goal of this presentation is to spread awareness about the beauty that is solar energy and give the audience a basic understanding of how it works, what it takes, and why its great!

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): We rely on solar energy every day - Without it our plants would not grow, our planet would not have light or warmth, and our smartphones would not give us directions. The sun emits enough solar energy in just one single hour to provide the entire world's power needs for a full year. Unlike other forms of energy, solar does not require mining resources from the Earth, and it does not produce harmful greenhouse gases or carbon emissions.
I live in a 210 square foot tiny house on wheels powered by 6 solar panels and a bank of 12-volt batteries. I have been traveling full-time the past 7+ months, the first 6 of which I did not plug in to the traditional power grid a single day. Solar power is NOT a technology of THE FUTURE, but rather a technology of TODAY.

I'll discuss the difference between 'grid-tied' solar and 'off-grid solar' along with some basics about orientation, electrical specs (watts, amps, volts), and how to take a tiny house off the grid with solar (like me).
